On Thursday Oct 4th Mr David Toze ISM Superintendent cut the ceremonial ribbon at the official opening of the new ISM tennis and multi-sports facility. The courts were opened with a welcome by Athletics/Activities Director Mark Pekin, a short speech by Mr. Toze and then followed by some student exhibition games from our top ISM tennis athletes. This facility will be a fantastic addition to ISM’s Athletics and Physical Education programs, we look forward to putting it to full use over the coming tennis season. Information will be coming out over the 2 weeks regards hosting visiting tennis players for the IASAS Tennis Championships in late January. Please assist by supporting this crucial aspect of the tournament by hosting a visiting IASAS tennis player.
IASAS Week: This week our HS Volleyball, Cross Country and Soccer teams head off to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur for IASAS. We wish all teams and coaches the best of luck and hope that everyone can play their best in the quest for IASAS gold. For those of us cheering for our Bearcats from Manila you can keep up to date with scores and live streaming of some events via www.iasas.asia website. This site will have links and updates to streaming and all the scores. For our parents who will be traveling to the tournaments don’t forget to visit the Bearcat den for some ISM merchandise to take with you to cheer on the teams. The den has green/yellow clappers, seat cushions, stickers and bearcat paw temporary tattoos for you to show your Bearcat Spirit.
2nd Season ATAC sports: Tryouts and Practice Schedule for MS & HS sports (Basketball, Tennis, Varsity Swimming, Boys Rugby and Girls Touch) are now posted on the blog and on notice boards around school. For interested Basketball players see the flyer posted on notice boards for upcoming Basketball camp being held at school during the October break for ISM MS/HS students.
The ISM MS Tennis program runs during 2nd second season from mid/late October thru to early February. Our teams play in the ISTA League Tennis Tournament which conducts an age group divisional round robin tournament with playoffs and finals at seasons end. For the 2012-13 season we have entered one girls team (gr.5-8) and 2 boys teams (1 gr. 5/6 team and 1 gr. 7/8 team) Each team will be made up 8-10 players who will be selected at the conclusion of the tryouts at the start of the season. Tryouts dates for MS tennis team selection are Oct 18-19. See flyers around school notice boards and on ATAC blog. Players wanting to make the school team must attend both tryouts sessions to be eligible for team selection. If you are interested in trying out please register your name ahead of time by sending an email with your full name, grade and year born to Mr. Pekin email@example.com
Note* Grade 8 girls or boys who are born ’98 are eligible to play for the MS team. If you are grade 8 and born’97 you must try out for the HS teams!

HS Student registration for ATAC activities: (new for school year ’12-13) A Google doc registration is now available for all HS students who will take part in any ATAC seasonal sports teams, MUN and Cultural Convention programs. Please take the time to complete this online registration for activities that you plan on joining this school year.
