Awards and recognition

SPORTS AWARDS: ES/MS/HS awards are scheduled shortly after the season finishes and dates/venues are published in advance via school newsletters/Friday bulletins/ATAC Blog and on school divisional notice boards.

Certificates for participation and special coaches awards eg; MVP and Most Improved etc are given at awards ceremonies.

MVP Awards: Given to the athlete(s) on each sport team whom the coach feels contributed the most to the team during the season taking into account attitude, attendance, skill and performance.

Coaches Choice Award: Given to the athlete(s) on each sports team whom the coach feels contributed the most to the team during the season taking into account things a sportsmanship, dedication, character and contribution to the team.

Special Recognition Award: Awarded to the student(s) who have provided leadership and support, displayed qualities of an active role model, and have done so within the framework of special achievement in the ISM Athletics and Activities program.

Sportsmanship Awards: Given to that boy and girl who exemplify the qualities  of consistent and sincere sportsmanship during a sports season.

High School Awards:

Are given to  High School Varsity/Junior Varsity (JV)/Aspirants participants who complete a full season in a sport and who meet the coaches’ criteria. Any participant in good standing, who does not complete the full season due to legitimate reasons (e.g. health/injury, early graduation, transfer to another school, etc.) will still be issued with a participation certificate.

MVP Awards: Given to the athlete on each Varsity sports team whom the coach feels contributed the most to the team during the season taking into account attitude, attendance, skill and performance.

Coaches Choice Award: Given to the athlete(s) on each Varsity sports team whom the coach feels contributed the most to the team during the season taking into account sportsmanship, dedication, character, and contribution to the team.

Special Recognition Award: Awarded to the student(s) who have provided leadership and support, displayed qualities of an active role model and have done so within the framework of special achievement in the ISM Athletics and Activities program.

Four Year Award: This award is given to student(s) who participate in the same activity for four consecutive years.

High School Honors & Awards Assembly: the following awards are presented at this ceremony at the end of the school year-

IASAS Scholar: Awarded to students who participate in at least two IASAS events in the same year and have an average GPA of 5.75 or better on the ISM 7pt grading scale.  GPA is averaged over the first 3 quarters only.  Note*This does not include IASAS Math as it is a one-off test which does not have the seasonal demands that IASAS Athletics/CC or MUN programs demand.

Sportsmanship Award: Decided by all head coaches at April coaches meeting. Given to that one HS boy and girl who exemplify the quality of sportsmanship during a sports season.

Outstanding Athlete Award: Decided by all head coaches at April coaches meeting. Given to the boy(s) and girl(s), in each HS grade level, who are considered to be an outstanding athlete, taking into account such attributes as skill, performance, attitude and leadership. Participation in at least two IASAS varsity seasons during the year is required! 

Criteria- Athletic Ability, Sportsmanship, Leadership, Dedication, Contribution to the athletic program, Respect for and from other student-athletes,
