Upcoming visit of USA Collegiate Fast pitch/Baseball coaches to ISM next week Feb 12-16
With the wonderful support and contacts from ISM Softball Coach Angela Respecki ISM has been fortunate to secure the services of three outstanding fast pitch coaches, one of which also has an extensive baseball coaching background. The visiting coaches from Texas will be at ISM to work with our HS players throughout the week from Feb 12-16 at practice sessions and in some PE classes to get the new IASAS sports of Fast Pitch Softball and Baseball off to a solid start for our Bearcat athletes.

Below is a brief bio of the visiting coaches. It is going to be a great learning experience for our players and coaches and we look forward to giving them a big Bearcat Welcome!

Coach Gay McNutt– a decorated collegiate player as well as a veteran with 32 years of coaching experience. Of those 32 years, 22 were spent as a Division I college coach. She spent 6 years as the head coach in the Southland Conference with Northwestern State University before taking the reins at University of Southern Miss for seven seasons, and nine seasons at Stephen F. Austin State University, in all, McNutt’s teams have won eight conference championships and finished in the league’s Top 3 on 10 other occasions, with four NCAA Regional Tournament Appearances. McNutt has been honored numerous times in her coaching career. She was named Conference Coach of the Year at Stephen F. Austin in 2010, and was a three-time Southland Conference Coach of the Year at Northwestern State and took Conference USA Coach of the Year honors in 2004. McNutt was a four-year starter behind the plate at Texas A&M, starting for the Aggies from 1982-1985. She was named to the all-region team each of those four years and earned All-American honors in 1985. McNutt, who served as team captain in each of her last two seasons at A&M, helped lead the Aggies to a national title in 1982 and ’83, and a second-place finish at the Women’s College World Series in 1984. McNutt was inducted into the Texas A&M Hall of Fame in 2011. McNutt now works for Schutt Sports as the Business Development Manager for Baseball/Softball.

Coach Kenny Bruce– iscurrently a girls fastpitch coach and operates a softball organization in Texas.
Coach Bruce has had a passion for and began playing baseball at a very young age. He was fortunate to have the ability to have played at the collegiate level, as well as in the DBA and NABA. Coach Bruce recognized that his interest for fastpitch softball began out of curiosity to help his daughter McKenna, now 17,  when she started playing at age 4. He remembers falling in love with the game from the very first pitch. Coach Bruce quickly began coaching, giving private hitting lessons, as well as assisting at camps all over USA.Coach Bruce proudly shares, “My passion and commitment to the sport, and the next generation of female athletes, empowered me to open Pro Form Camps & Training, Pro Form Fastpitch and Pro Form Apparel. Since May 2015, Pro Form Fastpitch teams have had 17 athletes who have been granted college scholarship commitments. Our coaching staff continues to do an amazing job developing softball players into great players, as well as produce powerful and confident women in our society.”
Coach Bruce is a well-rounded softball/baseballcoach with almost 20 years experience. He has coached every age group from 10u Coach Pitch to 18u and has coached many athletes currently playing at the collegiate level. Coach Bruce’s

strengths are hitting and fielding instruction. Upon meeting Coach Bruce it is evident that his“passion for this game burns as bright as ever”.

Coach Shawn Andaya-Pulliam- is originally from Stockton, California.
She was recruited and earned a scholarship to attend/play softball at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Coach Shawn pitched all four years and led her team to win the 1987 NCAA National Softball Championship. Coach Shawn earned honors as a three Time NCAA All-American. She is a member of the Texas A&M Softball Hall of Fame as well as the first softball player inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. She is a member of the NCAA Division I Softball 25th Anniversary Team along with NCAA Division I All-Decade Team. At Texas A&M University Coach Shawn served as the Assistant Softball Coach from 1992-1994 and the Director of Major Gifts from 1996-2017.
Coach Shawn has a strong sense of community service. Currently Coach Shawn is the United States Liaison for VOOM Foundation, a humanitarian medical organization that travels to Nigeria several times a year conducting open-heart medical missions.

Coach Shawn is excited to travel to Manila and shares what this trip means to her:  “I cannot begin to express how grateful I am for this opportunity to visit the Philippines and to be able to share my gift and softball knowledge in my grandfathers’ native land.  Both of my grandfathers’ came to America from the Philippines as children in search of a better life and opportunity. I grew up in Stockton, California and through softball I was able to rise abovemy difficult circumstances and be the first in my entire family to obtain a college degree from a top 10 university. I have also achieved athletic success surpassing my wildest dreams. I have been a NCAA Division I National Champion, All-American and nominated the first woman softball player inducted into the Texas Sport Hall of Fame. None of this would be possible without the courage, strength and wisdom of my grandfathers and their plight to move our family forward.  I live my life trying to create these same type opportunities for others.  Opportunities change lives!

GO BEARCATS…

Week 24 Feb 6-10, 2017

Our Bearcat athletes and coaches have had a great IASAS experience.
